La, 'twould be an advantage to be mov'd from the Towers at this time, and my work as a seamstress does not afford me the luxury of moving. What would I need to learn?
Well, simple things. But first things first-- you will need to learn how to at least use a computer, as well as basic office software. I could train you personally, but I've been working on big things for the company. But if you could find a teacher, I would be more than happy to fund that for you.
Would it be much different from the communicator? I hath learned well enough how to use it, now that Ella hath taught me to read and type.
La, I suppose I might have to ask about the network; I know not where to obtain such classes otherwise, and I know not if the Newcomer Center hath them.
Well, it would be somehow different from the communicator, but in some ways the same. I'm certain that there should be someone there who can help you. I've volunteered to teach classes, but sadly, I can't spare the time for a one-on-one tutorial session.
[But it would be a great way for Sheila to get to know more techie people!]
Ah, that would be good. Or you can just tell me when you feel ready to take on the job. For the meantime, though, I can already hire you at least to help me manage my schedule.
Mr. Chaolan, this is Tim Drake. I've been sick lately, so I hope you're okay with my doing some of the work from home? But I was wondering if I could talk to you about a few things concerning work. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
It's two things, actually. The first is that... I've been working really hard, lately, and I was wondering if I could be made into a full time employee? I'm already doing the same amount of hours, and the reasons for why I was part time aren't really there anymore. But if you're not looking for full time workers, I understand, and I'm grateful for the part time position no matter what.
[Pauses.] The second thing is that I've been working on an idea I had, and I was... it's a good idea, I think, but I wanted to see what you thought about it? So I know if the direction I'm going in is good.
Of course I can make you a full-time employee. Weren't you still studying when I hired you? I believe that was the only reason I had for keeping you in that position. [He chuckles.] We don't really have a lot of full-timers, honestly. I'm still always on the look-out for new people. It just doesn't help that the core seems to take and bring in people as it pleases.
